Worth of fixing up an old Honda c50 Cub?
I am planning on buying an old beat up (not running) Honda c50 for under 200$, I'm not entirely sure of the year but from the looks of it it is very old. I've always wanted a project car but could not afford the money, or the time for that kind of project, but I think fixing up a scooter would be perfect, and I really would like to have a good gas mileage vehicle for cheap out of it too.
Really what my question is; is I have read tat the really old Cub's get about 50mpg whereas the new ones are up around 200 or 300 (sounds wrong but that's what I read), would it be possible to get this beat up cub working again then over time modify it with a new engine etc. and get the gas mileage up? (are the newer models similar enough that I could upgrade that way)

honestly it would be so much cheaper for a 2000-ish honda 70 3 speed (maybe 600 dollers?). I have one and i get up to 52mph no mods. You think a project scooter/bike will be cheap&fun, but only the fun part is true. but it aint fun when you run outta money.
